Frequently Asked Questions

So… what exactly am I signing up for?

This is a Telehealth Physiotherapy service billed weekly. All of our physios are current or former coaches. As such as we understand that both training and rehab are deeply interconnected. As such you don't just get a couple rehab exercises to tack on to your training, you get a ground-up program to target maximum athletic development and rehab together. We do this to optimise rehab outcomes, whilst aggressively minimising deconditioning and strength loss.

You get industry leading continuity of care with 24hr messaging access to your treating Physiotherapist.

Is telehealth Physio as effective as in-person?

Yes!

Research has overwhelmingly found Telehealth Physiotherapy to be at least as effective as in-person Physiotherapy for outcomes such as pain, function, quality of life etc.

In these studies Physiotherapy was a conventional consultation-based delivery. The only difference was whether sessions were performed in-person or via video call. We see this as a worst case scenario. Our clinic leads the way in telehealth by implementing all of the potential benefits, such as ongoing support, supplying extra educational resources, etc. Our prediction and clinical judgement is that a ground-up telehealth model, rather than copy and pasting the in-person model and switching a camera on, is a better experience for all.

How does this even work online?

It's simpler than you think.

Initial assessment works the same as in-person, only difference being that its via video call.

Conventional treatment typically includes delivery of manual therapy + general lifestyle/training advice ("Maybe dont lift too heavy") + generic exercises (2x15 resistance band external rotations).

We don't deliver manual therapy, but happy to coach you through something if you want temporary relief. We provide a ground-up training program specifically taking your injury in to account, with your rehab built in. You access your program, video resources and messaging inbox with your physio via our app.

What kind of injuries do you treat?

We treat all musculoskeletal complaints. This includes for example, but isn't limited to:

  • Acute post-operative
  • Traumatic injuries
  • Overuse injuries
  • Chronic pain
Since rehab is built-in to training, what if I have a coach?

If you work with a gym/s&c/online coach, we recommend you put things on pause with them. This is because rehab and training are not separate entities, hence why we provide a complete program rather than telling you to do some external rotations a couple times a day. Because of this overlap, its a better experience for everyone if we just take over temporarily. This also helps avoid potentially conflicting advice being given which can become confusing.

Exceptiont to this are if you're working on a skills-based coach specifically. E.g. a Football or BJJ coach.

Why is this billed weekly and recurring?

Because you're paying for a complete rehab system - not just a one-off consult. You get around the clock support, access to a growing resource library, a complete ground-up program to satisfy athletic and rehab goals and an overall focus on building the skills and knowledge for you to self-manage in the long term.

Can I pause or cancel my rehab plan anytime?

Yes you can self-cancel via our app at any time at no additional cost.

Do we still have consults?

Yes, every week. Depending on where you're at in your journey and your preferred communication style, this happens via video or message. You'll also have messaging access with your physio for the entire duration. We promise a <24hr response time to all messages which includes program changes.

Will I get a proper training plan — or just band exercises?

We can't believe that it's common practice to give prescribe high-functioning, strong people a featherweight resistance band to do some generic isolation work or drills. We have no concrete evidence to back this up but by our estimations based on industry experience, the average physio will give that kind of a prescription almost all of the time. There's a time and a place, thats why we also prescribe that kind of thing too, almost never.

Why do you incorporate rehab in to training?

Ive lost count how many clients told me that under previous care, they ran out of time to train properly because they had to do x amount of rehab-specific exercises, drills, stretches or mobility work before/after training. It's seriously unacceptable. It's partly due to inherent constraints of consultation-based care, and partly because most physios don't feel confident in their exercise prescription capabilities (ref).

At least 9 times out of 10 rehab can be mostly or completely weaved in to training. This means:

  1. You can more effectively maintain or build on existing progress
  2. Your rehab is more relevant
  3. Your rehab is more fun
  4. Your rehab is less time consuming
  5. In our clinical experience, better results.
Do I need access to a gym?

Highly recommended but not mandatory. This answer stands for all musculoskeletal treatment, not just our telehealth Physiotherapy service.

Do you take international clients?
